Putnam County Deputy Accidently Shoots Himself

A Putnam County deputy is recovering after shooting two of his fingers last week.

The Sheriff's Office says Justin Brock was off duty at his home on North Jefferson Avenue in Eatonton last Wednesday. That's when Brock was cleaning his step son's 45-pistol and shot himself. Brock told authorities the gun malfunctioned. He shot off the tips of two of his fingers.

Authorities say Brock drove himself to St. Mary's Hospital for treatment. He is doing well and expected to return to duty this week.
