Police make arrest in shooting outside a church basketball league game

NewsCentral Staff

Macon Police have made an arrest in Monday night's shooting at a church league basketball game.

Police say 17-year-old Denyke Glenn was picked up late Wednesday night on charges of aggravated assault and criminal street gang activity.

Investigators believe he's the gunman who shot and wounded a 16-year-old player in front of the Memorial Park Gym Monday night.
Thursday afternoon, WGXA spoke to Pastor Davis Stanley of Union Baptist Church. His basketball team was playing when the bullets began flying.

"We want the community to know that there was no beef or no gripe between the two churches. We have a good relationship, the players have a good relationship and we have a wonderful Christian Basketball league," said Stanley.

The church basketball league has been in place for 20 years.
