Perry may narrow candidates for police chief

PERRY, Ga. (AP) - Leaders in Perry may soon narrow their candidates for police chief.

Mayor Jimmy Faircloth says that he will ask the city's council to pick two finalists during a meeting Thursday night.

City leaders have interviews six candidates for the position, including two captains currently on Perry's police force.

Faircloth said he expects council members will holding a closed meeting to ask any remaining questions they have of the candidates. If the council is ready to vote on two finalists, it would do so in a public meeting.

The job opened in June when Public Safety Director George Potter retired.
