The Peace Keepers, It’s a Community Action Plan designed to help keep the peace in a community that is plagued by crime and gun violence.
In Macon, Georgia a chapter is growing.
Quinton Muhammad told NewsCentral, "We were intrigued at the fact that this organization was unique, that they went out into the community and met the problem head on."
It’s Peace Week, and the founder of the Peace Keepers joins local leaders in celebration.
Captain Dennis Muhammad, the Founder of the Peace Keepers, said "I have been very well received by the Great City of Macon Georgia All the way for the Mayor all the way down to our great Rabbi, the religious leaders."
Rabbi Laurence Schlesinger, Macon City Councilmen, said "I very much think that the Peace Keepers and groups like them are the future of this community."
The PeaceKeepers goal and objective is to implement “New Norms” in the community. This means establishing new rules of conduct for young to govern their lives by.
"Macon Georgia is no different from all of the major cities across America, Crime and Violence seems to be the order of the day. “said Captain Dennis Muhammad.
The Organization aims to target neighborhoods that need more positive influence, hoping that more leaders will join forces to make a difference.
"They are capable of doing great things, they are doing great things and we just need others to join the ranks." said Rabbi Laurence Schlesinger, Macon City Councilmen.
The members of the organization continue to grow.
The Peace Keepers currently have 15 chapters that cover over 15 cities.
