She was with Patrick Swayze for over 30 years. Her struggle through his battle with Pancreatic Cancer and his untimely death as a result of that illness prompted her to write a book about the last months of his life. She is Lisa Swayze, Patrick's widow....and today she was in Macon sharing her story as a part of Macon State College's End of Life Symposium.
"Its a subject that doesn't get addressed very often but its something that we all face at some point.Dealing with facing death, loss, and all of those things. They could be the toughest things ever of course. The toughest things ever to face. But at the same time if they're approached in the right way they could yield the most unexpected gifts also." -Lisa Swayze/Widow
Many of those in attendance tonight were not only Patrick Swayze fans, but Cancer survivors themselves.
"My daughter and I have been to where Dirty Dancing was filmed and we've stayed in the cabin and when Patrick Swayze got Cancer I felt very connected to him because I'm a Cancer Survivor. I had Stage 3 breast cancer and I wanted to meet him so badly before he passed and I wasn't able to do that so I was so happy I was able to meet Lisa." -Sheila Heath/Cancer Survivor
Lisa Swayze has become a champion of Pancreatic Cancer awareness and education.
