New Year Begins with Fire for Several Macon Organizations

NewsCentral Staff

The new year begins on a sour note for the Macon Symphony Orchestra.

A small fire broke out at the symphony's home at 400 Poplar Street early Tuesday morning.

Five Macon-Bibb fire trucks responded to the 3 a.m. call. WGXA has learned there's some fire and water damage to the building, which also serves as the home of the orchestra, Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful and the Mercer Alumni Association.

We have no word on a possible cause for the fire. No injuries were reported.
