New Crossing Arms in Place at Ignico Dr. Intersection

NewsCentral Staff

Memorial markers and automobile parts mark the spot where Danell Reid and her 13 month old baby were killed at the train crossing at ignico drive in May. According to the Federal Railroad website, it was the 13th accident to happen at that Warner Robins crossing since 2002. That intersection had light and audio signals but was missing crossing arms...until now.

The crossing arms were installed by the Norfolk Southern rail line Wednesday evening and formally announced today. Neighbors say its a welcome change that will make the area more safe.
"A train is suprisingly fast you don't know how fast its coming until its right on you so that cross walk will help a whole lot." -Robert Murphy/Area Traveller

"I just don't understand why its taken so long anyway to do it. As I notice all the crossings from here to a couple of miles radius has the crossing arms there but they don't have it here so I'm glad to see them deciding to put one there I think it will make a big difference" -Rhonda Flowers/Area Resident

The warning devices were placed at the intersection a full three months ahead of schedule through a collaboration between Norfolk Southern and the Georgia Department of Transportation.
