Middle Georgia is preparing to welcome its third major motion picture within the past year.
A portion of the film "Need for Speed" will be shot in Macon. The film is based off the widely popular video game. Roughly 200 cast and crew members will come to the area for the production. They'll be closing off streets for racing and using local businesses as part of the film.
The Macon Film Commission is hoping with more movies being filmed in the area, tourism will grow.
"You just have to look up the road to Juliette, Georgia to see what the payoff is, which, 20 years after Fried Green Tomatoes, they're still getting tons of tourism. That's one of those things I think we're about to see with '42' when it comes out next month. You'll see people starting to come to Macon to see 'Oh, that's where they shot this location,'" said Cindy Hill with the Macon Film Commission.
Crews will begin shooting scenes in mid-April and are already casting extras for the film.
"Trouble with the Curve" and "42" had portions of their films shot in Macon within the past year.
