Commercial vendors continued to sell their goods on Saturday to people attending the Georgia National Fair in Perry.

Tommy Sattler and his team have been selling hats, belts and buckles to hundreds of people during the fair.

"This year we're right on par for an average year we're really not having a terrific year but we're not having a bad year," Sattler said.

He and his family have been running their booth for 15 years at the fair. While the official numbers aren't in yet, Sattler said at the start of the week, business was slow.

"Last week we had a pretty rough weekend,” he said. “It wasn't very on par for us or anything like that. The week days are a lot better for us."

Sattler's booth is one of 550 commercial vendors. Each vendor paid a rental fee to set up shop and this year the fair has made $386,000 from the different vendors. This is an increase from last year. While the fair is seeing some money come their way, some vendors said their sales are fairly even with last year.

”So far this year we've been pretty pleased,” Grasshopper sales representative Jeff Hammock said. “We seem to be a little ahead of schedule from last year."

Some vendors like Derksen Portable Buildings found a new and creative way to draw people to their booth. They brought TV stars Willie, Junior and Theresa Edwards from the popular reality show "Swamp People" to get people to walk to their area.

"We just wanted something to attract more people to our booth,” Derksen Georgia Regional Sales Manager, Travis Bizzle said. “They (Edwards) own three of our buildings and we thought it would be a good publicity thing to have them come out."

Whether sales are good or bad, vendors said coming out to the fair helps get their name out to the public

"It gives us an opportunity to build our brand in this region,” Hammock said.

“Keep our name brand and our name in front of people,” Bizzle said.

There are 200 vendors inside buildings and another 350 outside on the grounds. Many vendors said the last weekend typically is when their best sales come in. The last day of the fair is on Sunday.
