Monroe Deputy Clerk Charged With Theft, Fired

An employee in the Monroe County Commission Office is out of jail on bond facing multiple theft charges.
Monroe County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Allison Selman-Willis tells NewsCentral, 45-year old Kim Romine is charged with multiple counts of felony Theft by Taking after misappropriated county funds were discovered and reported to the Commissioners' Office.
Selman-Willis says Romine made 10 automatic payments to personal accounts for cell phone, car insurance and natural gas charges using a county owned credit card totaling $11,325.
Romine's employment by the Monroe County Commissioners' Office as a Deputy Clerk was terminated on Monday.
Selman-Willis says Romine turned herself in to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office’s Jail on Tuesday and was released on $7,500 bond.
The case remains under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
