People in Macon pack downtown sidewalks on Sunday as they usher in the holiday season with a parade.
More than 3,000 people came out to watch the 53rd annual Middle Georgia Christmas Parade. Bibb county high school marching bands took to the streets along with the Twiggs County High School band. More than 100 groups and organizations participated in the event which is in its second year hosted by the Main Street Macon organization.
"It's a great way to kick off the holiday season,” Main Street Macon manager, Mechel McKinley said. “It's get out and celebrate with your friends and family. We just love having all these people in downtown."
Three awards were given to participants. One for best float, best all-around and best band.
