Many Up in Arms Over Flyer

NewsCentral Staff

Flyers were left on cars in church parking lots Sunday in East Macon. In the days since, the flyers have become quite controversial.

They say, "For Sale" then show pictures of Representative Nikki Randall, Representative James Beverly and Senator Miriam Paris, the three African American members of the local delegation that helped frame the Consolidation Referendum. The flyer says the three have "sold out our black community" by supporting the consolidation bill.

Most shocking is that this flyer has been re-posted through social media as a sign of support by Interim President of the Democratic Party for Bibb County Sarah Hunt. This sparked an outcry by former Bibb County Democratic President Danny Glover who on his Facebook likened the flyer to a sale of slaves flyer and called into question Hunt's ethics as interim president.
