Magic Johnson school celebrates grand opening

NewsCentral Staff

Macon's newest alternative learning center is officially open for business.

The Magic Johnson Bridgescape center on Northside Drive celebrated its grand opening Friday. The center offers a mix of online learning and one-on-one instruction. The school is designed to give high school students who have dropped out, or are at risk of dropping out, the opportunity to earn a high school diploma.

"We already have a substantial number of students in the Macon area enrolled in our online program. We're bringing the learning center for the kids who are at high risk so that we can give them not just high-tech, but also high-touch," said Provost Academy Georgia Executive Director Monica Henson.

The center is open for both morning and afternoon sessions. According to a news release, more centers are expected to open around Georgia sometime this year.
