MACON, Ga. (AP) - About 150 people gathered in Rosa Parks Square for a candlelight vigil to honor the victims of the school shooting in Connecticut.
Attendees said they were on hand Wednesday night to show whatever support they could for families and friends of those who were killed in the attack. The event included prayers and a moment of silence for the victims.
A Macon City Councilmember decided to organize the candlelight vigil after hearing a discussion about mass shootings during a recent church service.
A gunman forced his way into a Newtown, Conn., elementary school on Friday, killing 20 children and six adults before killing himself.
