The Board of Regents has approved an 82,500 square foot Recreation and Wellness Center at the Macon Campus.
An email sent to students states the groundbreaking should occur in January, with an estimated completion date of March 2014. The building will include cardio and weight areas, a bowling alley, indoor walking track, basketball courts, and an indoor pool with a lazy river.
The Recreation and Wellness Fee, which was suspended this semester, will be charged again beginning in the spring. For students taking any class on the Macon campus, the fee will be $140. For students taking any class on the Warner Robins campus but not any classes on the Macon campus, the fee will be $40.
The fee will pay for the construction and operation of the building as well as for the operation of the Recreation and Wellness Program.
