Macon Says Good-Bye to their Miss America

Amber Jones

It’s a somber day in Macon, as the city says goodbye to Neva Fickling.

Fickling was crowned Miss America in 1953 and is the only Miss Georgia to ever hold the title. She volunteered with many community based organizations. She has also received national awards for her work with "Georgia Clean and Beautiful."

Tuesday, hundreds of people, including family, friends and fans gathered at Mulberry Street United Methodist Church to say their final good-byes.

Fickling will be remembered as a glowing contribution to the Middle Georgia community.
