The Macon Police Department awards some of their best officers with a new set of wheels on Monday at Luther Williams Field.
16 officers from various divisions were given keys to a new 2012 Ford Interceptor. The cars are funded by the special purpose local option sales tax. They replaced the officers' old Crown Victoria’s. Precinct Captain’s chose the deserving officers based on merit but one police captain said receiving a new car means more than being a good officer.
"They're not actually the cream of the crop cause we have so many creams of the crop,” Macon Police Department Captain of Precinct 4, Tracey Brazee said. “They did something a little step higher than the norm to get handpicked and recognized for the car."
The cars interiors were redesigned for the needs of police. Many officers said they're grateful for their new ride.
