Macon Memorial Park pays tribute to veterans

NewsCentral Staff

Macon Memorial Park is paying tribute to veterans the same way it has been for nearly 74 years.

Since 1938, Macon Memorial Park has had an active Veterans Day ceremony. On Friday, the park paid tribute by placing wooden crosses at gravesites of veterans they've buried who died in action. A wreath laying ceremony and gun salute were also part of the ceremony.

"We feel like it's important because of all of the families that we serve and we serve so many veterans. It's our way of being able to pay tribute and thank those folks for what they did for our country for the freedoms that we have today," said Phil McGoldrick with the Macon Memorial Park.

This Sunday, November 11th, marks Veterans Day across the country.
