Macon Man Dies in Houston County Accident

The Houston County Sheriff's is investigating a fatal accident that happened Saturday evening.

62-year-old Delmar Michael Singleton of Macon was riding a 2012 Triumph Motorcycle along GA 247. Singleton was stopped at the stoplight at the intersection of 247 and Davis Drive. The driver of a Chevrolet Astro van, James Leroy Edwards, failed to stop at the red light and ran directly into the rear of the stopped motorcycle, which was pushed through the intersection nearly 400 feet.

Singleton was thrown from the motorcycle and was severely injured. He later died from his injuries at the Houston Medical Center.

Edwards was transported to the Houston Medical Center where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries. Charges are pending against Edwards.
