Three Macon-Bibb County firefighters are transported to a local hospital for treatment after a semi hits their fire truck.
Chief Donnie Mercer of the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department tells NewsCentral, an 18-wheeler rear ended the emergency vehicle parked on the side of Interstate-16 just after 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Mercer says three firefighters and one other person were transported to the Medical Center of Central Georgia for treatment of injuries they received in the accident.
Mercer says the firefighters were responding to a crash at the I-16 Spring Street exit when the accident occurred.
The crash, which closed the eastbound lane on I-16, remains under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol.
