Macon Film Festival Continues all Weekend

Movie enthusiasts are headed to downtown Macon are getting the chance to check out some never before seen films.

Hundreds of people are coming out to the eighth annual Macon Film Festival. The weekend long event has 87 movie screenings, submitted by local and international film makers hoping to take the top prizes including the Melvyn Douglas award for best in show. More than $11,000 in cash prizes will be given out to category winners but the biggest winner organizers said is Middle Georgia.

"It's good for the local people to come but also we love the filmmakers who come in,” Film Festival organizer Julie Wilkerson said. “They bring a different background, a different perspective. We like watching the different kinds of film that they have."

The festival will continue on Sunday. There will be screenings at the Douglas and Cox Capital Theater as well at the 567 Center for Renewal.
