The Macon Film Festival wrapped up on Sunday and the weekend event had its largest audience attendance ever.
The numbers are in and more than 2500 people came out to watch the 87 screenings this weekend, a new record for audience attendance. This is the most people organizers said the festival has ever attracted in its eight year history. The quality of films submitted as well as adding an audience choice award is what organizers said are drawing more people to the event.
"I think our quality of film has gotten a lot better,” festival organizer, Julie Wilkerson said. “We can tell that by the scores it took to be entered in the festival and that in turn has driven the attendance. Some really good word of mouth for some good films that are here."
More than $11,000 in cash prizes was given to category winners this weekend. Best in show went to the movie "Shoot the Moon."
