Macon Councilman Calls for Neighborhoods to Unite

NewsCentral Staff

This vehicle, parked at 1528 Stratford Circle has been the target of random gunfire two times this year. The latest incident occurred this morning around 3 am. Fortunately none of the bullets entered the home and no one was injured but that could have easily happened.

Charles Jones of Macon City Council along with Macon Regional CrimeStoppers used the incident today as a call to action for all Macon Communities, to get neighborhoods together and fight back against crime before it turns deadly.

"Most people are talking about, did anybody get killed. That ain't the question. You don't want to go somewhere when somebody got killed. You want to go somewhere and find it like we found it now so we can go and prevent other folks from getting killed." -Charles Jones/Macon City Council

It's still unclear why this family's vehicle has been targeted.

"My mother is retired from the Board of Education. My dad goes to work every day. My son who is here mostly with my mother and father, goes to college and works during the nights. They're just everyday people. They don't mess with anybody. So I don't understand why this is happening." -Nicole Battle/Daughter

Councilman Jones is also offering a reward in addition to the CrimeStoppers Reward

"I'm going to pay $500 to anybody that will give us information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of this person. I'm going to pay it." -Charles Jones/Macon City Council
