Macon City Council Questions Kroger Shooting

NewsCentral Staff

Questions are still lingering over the fatal police shooting of Sammy “Junebug” Davis Jr.

Some Macon city council members raised questions again about the ongoing investigation at Monday night’s meeting. They're concerned about policy and procedures within the Macon Police Department. Davis was shot by Macon Police officer Clayton Sutton on Dec. 21. Some members want to know whether or not a warrant was served on Davis as initially suggested by police. The assistant to the chief administrative officer, Keith Moffett, said the investigation is on-going and wouldn't comment on the case.

"We're never going to be satisfied until we can get definitive information about what's going on with our police department so we're not satisfied," Macon City Council President, James Timley said.

"Our concern is everything pertaining to Mr. Davis has been concealed,” council member Henry Gibson said. “Nobody talks about anything."

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation continues to investigate the six week old case. Moffett said answers about the case may be available by next month.
