MPD Responds To "Shots Fired" Scare At School

Macon Police respond to a "shots fired" call at one Bibb County High School on Thursday morning.

Macon Police Department Public Information Officer Jami Gaudet tells WGXA, officers responded to several 911 calls in regards to shots fired in the Central High School lunchroom. Gaudet says there was a coordinated police entrance into the building with officers responding as though there was an active shooter. Police determined the shot was actually a firecracker.

Stephanie Hartley with the Bibb County Board of Education says classes are resuming as normal and students are taking their final exams.
