MPD Arrests Two Macon Women In Credit Card Fraud Case

Macon Police said the public helped in the arrests of two women involved in a credit card fraud case.
Avesia Jones,18, and Tiawana Mason, 20, both of Macon, turned themselves into Macon Police Department's Detective Bureau Tuesday afternoon.
The women were wanted for using a stolen credit card at a Mini Foods in Macon on November 29, 2012.
Both of the women are charged with one count of financial transaction card fraud and another count for financial transaction card theft.
Police said their arrests came hours after authorities asked WGXA and other local media to publicize the case.
According to Lt. David Freeland of the department's property division, surveillance cameras also helped solve the case.
"This incident is proof of the power and effectiveness of video surveillance cameras as a safety measure in the fight against crime," said Lt. David Freeland.
"We suggest that business owners purchase, install, and faithfully use the best system they can afford."
Jones and Mason are out of jail each on a $4,250 bond.
