Local pastor honored by congregation, city and county leaders for service over the years

NewsCentral Staff

A local pastor is honored by community leaders on Sunday for his long service to the Macon-Bibb area.

Reverend Dr. Marshell Stenson has worked for 43 years at St. Luke Baptist Church. His congregation celebrated his service with song while Macon Mayor, Robert Reichert and Bibb County Commission Chairman, Sam Hart presented Stenson with proclamations for his service. Stenson said he helped grow the church over the years by using the word of God.

"The anniversary date is the great date in the life of a minister, whether it's the first anniversary or the 43rd anniversary it's just like a birthday and this is a celebration."

After church services, the congregation held a banquet for Stenson which concluded three days of celebrating his service to the community.
