A local theatre company is getting kids interested in acting by showing them what it's like to be a cat.
Theatre Macon's youth actor company opened its season this weekend with a Disney production of "The Aristocats Kids." More than 20 actors from ages 6-17 perform in the play based off the Disney movie where a well off cat and her kittens become friends with a stray after being abandoned by their butler in the French countryside.
Director Stephen Wisker said casting youth and having kids watch the play only helps them better understand the art of theatre.
"The more kids and young people have access to theatre and they see it before they're adults, the magic stays with you for the rest of your life," Wisker said.
The play will continue to run this week with the next performances being this Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
Friday and Saturday: 8 p.m.
Sunday Sept. 30, 2:30 p.m
