Local Hospital Receives Big Honor

Houston Medical Center is ranked as one of “America’s 100 Best Hospitals for 2012” by a health care ratings company Tuesday.
It is one of three hospitals in the state and the only one south of Atlanta to receive this recognition by Health Grades.. For the last five years it has been designated as a distinguished hospital for clinical excellence and ranked number one in Georgia for overall pulmonary services for seven years in a row. Upon hearing this news, staff said they are excited and look forward to continuing their commitment to providing quality care for the community.
"It's wonderful,” clinical care technician April McCrary said. “It's great to hear something like that because we do a lot as a critical care tech along with the nurses and the doctors and it’s kind of a big teamwork effort so its outstanding news "
Health Grades rates the quality of hospitals across the country by looking at clinical outcomes for 27 different diagnoses and procedures and rate them on a five star basis.
Patients treated at America's 100 best hospitals are 30 percent less likely to die.
