Local Church Celebrates Anniversary

NewsCentral Staff

A church in Jones County celebrated its massive growth with baptisms and community outreach on Sunday.

Grace Point Church pastor Chris Dorrity said his congregation started out three years ago as eight people worshiping in a garage. The church now has more than 700 members. To celebrate the church's third anniversary more than 150 people were baptized.

"The greatest thing is we're winning people for the Lord, Jesus Christ and what they're saying to the whole wide world right here on Gray Highway in front of everybody is simply this we're exchanging our old life for a brand new life in Christ and it's absolutely amazing," pastor Chris Dorrity said.

The church performs baptisms three or four times a year. Grace Point's next big event will be hosting its own version of the “Redneck Games” in October.
