Local Cemetery Offers Historical Tour

A local cemetery is inviting people to walk its graves for an educational night about Macon's history.

Riverside Cemetery is hosting its fifth annual "Spirits in October" tour. To mark the cemetery's 125th anniversary, the tours highlight men and women in Macon who did notable “firsts” in history. Actors portray the people buried at the cemetery and bring to life the colorful history. The tours will continue next week on Thursday Oct. 25 starting at 6 p.m. and will go until Sunday Oct. 28. All proceeds from the tours fund research and preservation at the cemetery.
