Local Cemetery Gives Tour of Historic Grounds

NewsCentral Staff

Rose Hill Cemetery hosted “Rose Hill Ramble” on Sunday to get people into the spirit of Halloween and educate them on some local history.

More than 50 people walked the grounds of the historic site listening to a guide tell stories about some of Rose Hill’s most notable women buried at the cemetery. The tour takes place twice a year and highlights the historic grounds and people who are buried there. Friends of Rose Hill which is part of the Historic Macon Foundation hosted the event not only to create interest in the grounds but to share some history of Rose Hill's permanent residents. All proceeds raised goes towards preserving the cemetery.
