Crossover day in the Georgia Legislature has come and gone leaving many proposals dead for the year. One legislative let down is affecting two middle Georgia businessmen looking to break into the brewing business in Macon.
Jeremy Knowles and Cory Smith, owners of the "Under Construction" Macon Beer Company, had hoped that House Bill 314 would pass this legislative session. The bill would allow the future brewery owners to sell beer by the case to their customers this year.
The bill didn't pass this year, but Knowles says that the progress it made in the General Assembly is a move in the right direction.
The Georgia Brewers Association is meeting with lawmakers next week to hear some of the organizations needs.
Officials with Macon Beer Company say they hope House Bill 314 can be tweaked and passed in the 2014 legislative session.
