Lizella man killed in one-vehicle crash over the weekend

A Lizella man is dead after a one-vehicle accident on Saturday.

Public Information Officer Allison Selman-Willis with the Monroe County Sheriff's Office says it happened at 498 Russellville Road on March 2 in Monroe County.

Deputies were dispatched around 5:43 a.m. and discovered a black GMC Sonoma pickup truck that had driven off the roadway and struck a tree. The driver, 25-year-old Jeffrey Brannen Croft, Jr. was pronounced dead on the scene.

The cause of the accident is unknown and the driver was wearing his seat belt at the time if the crash.

Selman-Willis says the investigation is ongoing.
