Lizella Fire Department Scene of Suicide

A Lizella fire department station was the scene of a horrific suicide Tuesday.

Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones says a man shot and killed himself Tuesday morning at the Mount Pleasant Church Road fire station.

The man was driving a vehicle with a Florida license plate. His identity is unknown while authorities try to locate family members.

Jones says the man was living with his sister in Macon.

Bibb County Fire Chief called the shooting a tragedy.

It remains unclear why the man committed suicide. Firefighters cleared the scene and the man's body was transported to the Bibb County Coroner's office.
