Lamar County toddler lifted from 60-foot well

A 2-year-old Lamar County boy is recovering after falling into a dried up well Thursday afternoon.

The Lamar County Sheriff's Office says Carter Altman was playing near the old well at his home off Martin Dairy Road when he fell about ten feet into the hole.

Altman was in the hole for about an hour before a fire rescue team was able to tie a rope around the boy and fish him out.

The boy had scratches and bruises, but first responders say he should be just fine.
