Kitchens Road Old Time Family Festival

NewsCentral Staff

A Baldwin County man is offering families struggling with the economy a way to take a mini vacation in their hometown.

Bobby Kitchens hosted the first ever "Kitchens Road Old Time Family Festival" on Saturday in Haddock. The two day festival features more than 40 vendors selling food, arts and crafts that benefit the Milledgeville Lions Club and Baldwin County Schools. Kitchens said his family is like many others who can't travel because of economic woes but he said he wants to give people an opportunity to relax for a few days without breaking the bank.

"I think a lot of families is in the same shape, can't take a regular vacation so this is kind of a weekend to be at home but yet have something to do, something new, and exciting,” Kitchens said. “Just have a good time with the family and the kids.”

More than 10,000 people are expected to come out this weekend. The festival will continue on Sunday and will feature gospel music.
