Joshua’s Wish for a Cure

Larry Spruill

That’s why one central Georgia family is raising awareness about a type of cancer that took their son’s life.

About 300 hundred people came out Saturday morning, to walk for a cause. “The goal is not only provide more effective treatments, but the ultimate goal is for a cure,” says Joshua’s father, Trent Solomon.

It’s a cure that has not been found yet, that’s why Joshua’s Wish Foundation hosted its 2nd Annual Walk to raise money for childhood cancer research.

The Solomon family lost their five year old son Joshua Solomon in 2009, to an inoperable brain tumor.

With September being childhood cancer awareness month, they’re hoping Saturday’s walk, will shed some light on this wide spread issue. “We had hopes that he would be a long term survivor, but the type of tumor that he had has no cure or effective treatment,” says LaBrina Solomon.

In Joshua’s honor, the family started Joshua’s Wish Foundation, having t-shirts made with a blue train, symbolizing tenacity on it.

His mother says, that design describes her son to the tee. “In his prayers at night, he was always praying for the children he knew around him that had cancer even though he was going through his own battle.”

The Joshua’s Wish Foundation raised $9,889 for Pediatric Brain Tumor research.
