Jones Deputy Saves Man From Burning Home

Celeste Smith

A Jones County deputy is being hailed a hero after rescuing a man from a burning home.

Captain James Clark of the Jones County Sheriff's Office tells NewsCentral, Robert Keith Brown is undergoing treatment for smoke inhalation at the Medical Center of Central Georgia.

Clark says Deputy Rod Whitehead was driving down Joycliff Road just after 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday, when he noticed flames coming from Brown's trailer.

Clark says Whitehead found Brown asleep on the sofa and carried him out of the burning trailer.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation by the Jones County Fire Department.
