Houston Healthcare Hosts Pink Picnic

NewsCentral Staff

A local hospital brings people of Middle Georgia together on Tuesday to celebrate survivors of breast cancer and raise awareness.

Houston Healthcare hosted their 17th annual breast cancer awareness luncheon, Pink Picnic, at the Museum of Aviation. Hundreds of people attended the luncheon that not only celebrated survivors but educated people about the disease. Hospital staffers said one in eight women will experience breast cancer sometime in their life.

"It brings survivors together,” Houston Healthcare Community Education and Services Director Beth Jones said. “It brings friends and family who have had women who have had breast cancer together. Raises awareness but it also celebrates life and survivorship of our cancer survivors."

Houston Healthcare will host the event again next year at the Museum of Aviation.
