Houston County Man Dies Following West Nile Battle

NewsCentral Staff

A Houston County man is the latest Georgian to die from the West Nile virus.

Jennifer Jones of the North Central Health District tells WGXA the 65-year-old patient died at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.

Doctors are warning people to take precaution after a 10-year-old boy and a 70-year-old woman were recently hospitalized with West Nile in Houston County.

While many West Nile cases have been reported across the state, these are the first reported cases in the North-Central District this season.

All three patients lived in north Houston County, but Health Director Doctor David Harvey says people all over middle Georgia should protect themselves.
