Hollywood Films a TV Pilot in Local Historical Home

Film crew members were outside of the Hay House on Wednesday as filming for the pilot "Witches of East End" started production in Macon.

The drama pilot is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Melissa de la Cruz. It's about a mother played by Mad Men actress, Julia Ormond and her two adult daughters who live in the quiet Long Island town of North Hampton. After one of the daughters becomes engaged to a newcomer in the town, a series of events happen that prompt Ormond’s character to tell her daughters they are powerful and immortal witches.

American Horror Story actress, Jenna Dewan-Tatum who plays one of the daughters, was on set along with co-stars Ormond, and In Plain Sight's Rachel Boston.

"They're sweet,” TV extra Lester Shaw said. “A lot of movies, they tell you to not talk to the actors because they're at work but you know, they're very personable."

Crew members wouldn’t talk about what what's happening on set due to confidentiality agreements that many signed before production started in North Carolina. However, some extras on set were willing to speak about what was being filmed inside the 160-year-old home.

"It's a wedding,” Shaw said. “It's a wedding scene. We’re just walking around and just enjoying ourselves."

Two busloads of extras were on set to fill in for the wedding scene but not all have gotten their shot at 15 minutes of fame.

"I haven't actually been on camera yet but hopefully tomorrow that may happen," local Maconite and extra, Vivian Hallmark said.

Dewan-Tatum is letting her fans on Twitter get a sneak peek inside by re-tweeting a picture of her and Jarhead's Brianne Davis posing on the grand staircase in the home. No other locations will be used in Macon but if the pilot is picked-up, there's a possibility of future filming dates. The cast and crew will be heading out of town on Friday to finish up filming in North Carolina.
