A local business will showcase their products at the 39th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards on Saturday.

Valor founder, Johnny Rohrbeck said his candles were so well received by the sports personalities at the 33rd Annual Sport Emmy Awards in April that he was asked to participate in this year’s Emmy’s gift lounge. The Macon based company was one of 15 businesses that set up in the green room. Celebrities came around to smell the different candles, soaps and air fresheners Rohrbeck brought to the event.

Main Street Macon Manager and economic development specialist, Mechel McKinley said all the hype surrounding Valor Candles makes her hopeful about an economic resurgence in downtown Macon.

"Name recognition internationally for a company from downtown Macon is just awesome from an economic development stand point,” she said. “We hope that more small businesses will see how successful Johnny has been and to think about bringing their businesses downtown as well."

McKinley said within the last year about 15 new business have opened in the downtown area including Valor Candles. Since showcasing its products at the Sports Emmy Awards, the company has grown by 300%.
