Habitat Houses 4 Families

NewsCentral Staff

Macon welcomed four new homeowners Tuesday thanks to the Macon Area Habitat for Humanity.

Tuesday's ceremony took place at the Countryside Baptist Church in the Lynmore Estates community, where all 4 homes are located.

The homeowners were presented with keys to their new house along with a toolbox, vacuum cleaner, a gift certificate to the Habitat Store, and a Bible.

The dedication was immediately proceeded by the 2013 Priceless Gifts Campaign kickoff, which introduced a new chairman for this year's campaign.

The organization raised $395K in 2012, well above their goal of $285K. Habitat will raise the bar in 2013 with a goal of $469K.

"Our goal this year is to serve 25 families. We are going to build one new house, we are going to rehab three torn down duplexes and we are going to serve 21 families with our organizational programs," said Tom Driver, 2013 Campaign Co-Chairman.

The Macon Area Habitat has served 88 families in Jones and Bibb Counties since 1986, 33 of those homes are in the Lynmore Estates community.
