Coliseum CEO Allen Golson Remembered at Service

Shantal Furey

Down-to-earth, hard-working and kind...those are the qualities friends used to describe Allen Golson.
Fifty-year-old Golson was killed, January 27th, in central Florida when his private plane crashed.
Rescuers were able to save Golson's wife Carol from the firey crash but unable to save him.
Friend of Golson, Mitch Rodriguez says, "Well, I was shocked knowing Allen and knowing he had flown airplanes for a while, and being a person that had tried to fly... Also, we had some conversations about flying, so it was quite a shock...it just took me totally by surprise."
Those who knew Golson had nothing but good things to say about a man who they say will truly be missed...
Mitch Rodriguez continues, "I think he will be remembered very fondly and very kindly... Allen was an individual that worked hard and moved into this community, coming from Albany Ga., and worked hard to basically make himself and everyone else better."
Friends who knew him both professionally and personally say he was just a good person and a good leader who never acted like he was better than anyone else.
Another friend of Golson's, Dr. Joseph Poku added, "He was just so down to earth and he interacted with people on a day-to-day basis whether you were a physican or a cleaning person he knew everyone's name."
Friends say he will not be forgotten and that his legacy will live on.
Golson was scheduled to leave his Coliseum position to start as the new CEO of the Ocala Health System on February 20th.
