People are reeling in some big fish and taking them home during the month of October.
The Go Fish center in Perry is having its second harvest month this year for catfish. Normally people can only catch and release, but employees said they're overstocked and want people to take the fish home. The catch and keep, frees up the pond and is an educational tool for kids and adults learning how to take care of fish once they're caught.
"Part of fishing for all people is taking fish home with them and this is a good chance for them to kind of learn how to catch them, how to keep them, whether it be in coolers after they're done and take them home and hopefully clean and cook them,” Go Fish Fisheries Biologist, Clint Peacock said.
People are allowed to catch a total of 5 fish a day. The pond will be restocked with catfish again in November.
