Seniors from all over the state are setting the pace for a lifetime of good health.
The Georgia Golden Olympics kicks off this week in Warner Robins with a chance for adults fifty and older to participate in a variety of amateur sports competitions and to meet new friends.
The statewide event makes it possible for seniors to participate in a variety of sport including tennis, bowling, softball, and bicycling.
Mary Alice Ealer\Georgia Golden Olympics:
“It is an incentive and motivation that helps and keeps the seniors bodies moving. We have seniors in their 70s, 80s and 90s doing all kinds of sports.”
During one of those races, two of the senior bicyclists took a nasty tumble.
Corporal Sean Alexander tells NewsCentral the riders, both in their seventies, were in the last leg of a 40K race when they became entangled and got thrown from their bikes.
John Mikkowen and Charles Fetzer are being treated in a hospital for their injuries.
Both riders were wearing helmets.
