Gas station pump erupts into flames after car loses control

NewsCentral Staff

A gas station pump erupted into flames after a truck lost control and slammed into a gas pump Wednesday morning.

It happened around 8:00 at the intersection of Gray Highway and Shurling Drive. Police say the driver of the truck hydroplaned and crashed into a pump at the Lucky Food Mart.

The collision ignited an explosion and set fire to a Macon Water Authority truck parked nearby. A witness describes what she saw.

"When it exploded, we all was outside and like so many flames was going in the air. I never seen nothing like that in my life," said employee Starla Moore.

No one was injured and the crash is currently under investigation with charges pending.
