Friday marks last day for rural Twiggs County post office

Customers of the Danville post office in Twiggs County will have to travel a little further to do business.

Friday was the last day for the post office located on Second Street. Officials told WGXA in early November that the building was in bad shape and renovations would be pricey.

The closure is part of an emergency suspension. There's no word on whether or not the office will reopen. Residents who use P.O boxes at that location will be relocated to the Allentown post office about a mile away.
