NewsCentral Staff

A Fort Bragg man was killed Friday in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 41 south near Bolingbroke around 3:15 p.m.

35-year-old Anthony Carlos Burge died after the Kawasaki motorcycle he was riding struck another vehicle attempting to make a left turn near Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

The initial investigation revealed Burge was traveling south on Highway 41 behind a dump truck which was behind a Honda Civic. The Civic attempted to make a left turn across the railroad tracks at the same moment Burge attempted to pass the dump truck which was between the Civic and Burge.

Burge’s motorcycle struck the Civic in the left rear panel, causing it to spin in the roadway. Burge was ejected from the motorcycle and was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver of the Civic, 23-year-old Dayne Scott Sullivan of Lizella, was transported to the Medical Center of Central Georgia with minor injuries. Sullivan and Burge were both using turn signals and Burge was wearing a helmet.

No charges are expected and the investigation into this incident continues.
